NxSE Prospect Report: Zachary Oxendine

Zachary Oxendine

  • Amateur Record: 1-1-0
  • Traditionally fights at Lightweight (155 lbs)
  • Fights out of North Carolina

I maintain the stance that its unfair to predict a fight career based on an amateur record; with that being said, it’s always prudent to make exceptions when you see a variable that can’t be ignored. A record of 1-1-0 is fair, but the reason that I’m including Zachary Oxendine in the report iss because he has an X-factor that really can’t be ignored.

The first time that I happened across Oxendine was at Battle in the South 13 in Wilmington, NC. Zachary Oxendine scored a first round knockout over Willie Lamb in 1:30. Both Oxendine and Lamb were making their MMA debuts that night, and both fought with an incredible amount of heart. Three months later, Oxendine came out on the disappointing end of a decision loss, but both a loss and a decision can teach you a lot more than what a one sided victory can in a lot of instances.

The point of the NxSE Prospect Report is to shine attention where it needs to be shown. I see Zachary Oxendine making big strides in his amateur career, and I really believe that if he decides to go pro, he’s going to take full advantage of the pro rules and techniques that are going to become available to him. Oxendine is a natural athlete who displays a genuine enthusiasm for competition when he steps into the cage.
